About The Artist
Judy was born in the Midwest and currently lives in Oxnard, California with her husband, where they recently moved to be closer to the Ocean. She has worked in music, dance and theater as well as the visual arts, and taught ceramics at a private art school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has studied painting at Mission: Renaissance and Chouinard School of Art as well as learning through various workshops, books and the private study of artists she admires. Judy has always been drawn to illustrations by E. H. Shepard (Winnie the Pooh) for their simplicity and strong messages.
Most recently Judy has been using pencil and watercolor as the most usual materials for her paintings. She is still doing some rice paper collage and pen and ink. While her favorite subjects include animals of all types - domestic and wild, with her recent move she has now begun to focus on the life around the ocean. So, you will see more boats and birds, turtles and sea lions. The ocean will be featured in addition to the usual settings such as local parks, Paris and South Africa. She is still very much exploring themes about our relationship with animals, their relationships with each other, and all of us together on this planet.
Original works are in collections across the U.S. Her popular book Bring a Friend, is in its second edition. Judy is an Officer of the Angeles Crest Art Guild where she has been a member for well over a decade.
